Chesapeake Bay Trust Community-Based Organization Capacity Building Initiative

About the Project

Through the CBO-CBI, the partners RR & Associates, the Chesapeake Bay Trust (Trust), the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and the Environment (MDE), with funding provided by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), aim to bridge the resource gap between mainstream established organizations and community-based organizations and partners and build the capacity of community-based organizations.

BBE in partnership with RR & Associates provided CBT with a list of 10 different under-engaged CBOs in the Southern region of Maryland that meet eligibility requirements to apply to DNR and/or Trust watershed restoration-focused grant programs and other water quality and resilience programs and will be provided with a technical assistance provider to apply to one of the programs. BBE was responsible also for providing the CBT with a report summarizing assistance provided to the 10 CBOs engaged, liaison services, and a written final report, the design and implementation of capacity-building strategies, and the methods and deliverables of the outreach and engagement efforts including lessons learned from project period, coordination team meetings, and capacity building activities.
